Narendra Modi has been sworn in as India's new prime minister in a ceremony attended by his counterpart from rival Pakistan.
Nawaz Sharif joined other regional leaders at the inauguration in Delhi's presidential palace.
It is the first time since the two countries won independence in 1947 that a prime minister from one state has attended such a ceremony in the other.
Mr Modi led his BJP party to a landslide win in the recent election.
The BJP won the biggest victory by any party in India for 30 years, gaining a majority in parliament and trouncing the outgoing Congress Party.
Monday's grand outdoor ceremony in front of the presidential palace was attended by the leaders of all seven South Asian countries as well as Mauritius.

10 Foods to Eat Every Day for Perfect Skin

10 Foods to Eat Every Day for Perfect Skin::

Are you tired of using different expensive and ineffective beauty products? It’s time to throw away all those ineffective products and start eating foods for perfect skin. I went from terrible acne five months ago to not having acne now. It was hard, but it was possible, and less expensive than turning to pricey products. While some foods can aggravate your skin, others can enhance it. Check out a list of 10 foods to eat every day for perfect skin.
Foods to Eat Every Day for Perfect Skin

1. Red bell peppers

Red bell peppers
Red bell peppers are a tasty vegetable that can be enjoyed either cooked or raw. One red bell pepper contains more than 100% of your daily vitamin C needs. It also contains significant amounts of dietary fiber and vitamin B6. Moreover, it is rich in carotenoids that can help prevent wrinkles and increase blood circulation to your skin, helping it look more youthful. Due to their carotenoids, red bell peppers are also great to fight acne.
A red bell pepper is a perfect, low calorie snack that contains about 30 calories and has a really satisfying crunchy bite. Keep slices of red bell peppers in the fridge, so you will always have something healthy and tasty to reach for when you are having a snack attack. The fiber that a bell pepper contains will help you to feel full longer with very little calories. Plus, you will have a flawless skin!

2. Dark chocolate

Dark chocolate
This is one of my favorite foods to eat every day for perfect skin! Dark chocolate is rich in antioxidants, fatty acids and flavanols that promote glowing skin. The antioxidants in dark chocolate will help reduce roughness in your skin and protect it against sun damage. Moreover, cocoa relaxes arteries, increasing blood circulation that leads to healthier skin.
I usually buy cocoa powder or raw cacao for less fat. And if you like dark chocolate, eat your ounce of dark chocolate every day and make sure you choose at least 80% cacao content in order to avoid milk and added sugars found in a traditional chocolate bar.

3. Salmon

Salmon
Salmon is an excellent food to fight stress, anxiety, and depression. Salmon also provides most of your daily vitamin D needs. And as you may already know, Vitamin D is responsible for keeping your heart, bones, colon and brain healthy. It also helps prevent colon cancer, anxiety, depression, heart disease and bone disease.
Salmon is also rich in omega-3 fatty acids that are excellent for fighting inflammation, wrinkles and acne. Its high omega-3 content also helps hydrate your skin from the inside out. Moreover, eating salmon keeps your scalp hydrated and promotes strong, healthy hair.

4. Coconut oil

Coconut oil
Coconut oil is one of the richest sources of saturated fat with about 90 percent of calories as saturated fat. It contains lauric acid, a powerful antibacterial and antiviral agent that keeps away viruses, infections, inflammation and acne. Coconut oil is also rich in essential fatty acids and Vitamin E, which are perfect for keeping your skin moist, soft, and wrinkle-free.
I use coconut oil as a body cream and consume 1 tbsp. of raw coconut oil every day. Coconut oil is especially good for your thyroid. Plus, there’s considerable evidence that this oil can help lose weight. So many health benefits, don’t you think?

5. Green tea

Green tea
Well, so I know green tea is actually a beverage, but tea leaves come from a plant! Even though I love black tea, I drink green tea every day because I know that it is a great source of antioxidants and a unique amino acid, L-theanine that helps relax your body and lower stress.

Rashtrapati Bhavan staff keeping fingers crossed for good weather

Last Updated: Sunday, May 25, 2014
With all arrangements in place, Rashtrapati Bhavan officials are keeping their fingers crossed that the weather does not play spoilsport during Monday`s open air swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi.
"We're hoping the weather will hold, and there will be no squall or rain," said Omita Paul, secretary to President Pranab Mukherjee, briefing media Sunday on the arrangements.

The weather office has predicted cloudy weather and thundery conditions in some places of the national capital.
In case it rains, the Rashtrapati Bhavan will provide umbrellas. "We will keep on standby around 1,000-2,000 umbrellas," said an official at the presidential palace.

If it pours heavily, the swearing-in could be held in the Durbar Hall, which can hold around 500 people.

"The adjacent rooms to the Durbar Hall can together hold around 350 people. In all, we would be able to accommodate around 800-900 guests," said Paul.

London: Want to avoid risky behaviour after consuming alcohol? Drink in a group.

Being in a group when drinking moderate amounts of alcohol makes people view risk more cautiously, a new study has found.

Psychologists from the University of Kent and the University of East Anglia found that individuals who consume moderate amounts of alcohol in social situations are likely to view risky situations with greater caution when considering them as part of a group.

Researchers asked Kent students who were drinking in groups in bars and at a music festival at its Canterbury campus to decide what levels of risk they thought was acceptable before recommending someone should take various actions.

They accepted a higher level of risk when they were drinking and deciding alone, rather than when they were drinking and deciding in a group of others.

In the study, 101 participants aged 18-30 who were in groups were approached to take part. The researchers compared groups of people who were just under the drink-driving limit with groups that had not consumed any alcohol.

The participants first gave their private judgements about how much risk they would accept before recommending a potentially risky action - for example, whether it would be acceptable to drive to collect a friend from an airport after drinking.

They then re-joined the group and discussed a second problem and the group had to agree how much risk would be acceptable.

"When intoxicated, it is known that people are more likely to engage in risky behaviour, including the use of illicit drugs, engaging in violent and other criminal activity and driving at dangerous speeds," said Dr Tim Hopthrow, of Kent's Centre for the Study of Group Processes.

"Our findings confirmed that individual risk decisions are increased by higher alcohol consumption.

"Our previous research, which had been conducted in laboratory conditions, showed that effects of alcohol consumption that affect people drinking alone, such as becoming riskier, are reduced or eliminated when people make judgements together with other drinkers in a group.

"We wanted to establish whether this would hold true in real drinking situations outside the laboratory, such as a bar or concert, where there are many other influences at work.

"Our findings showed that, even in these natural settings, social interaction in groups can reduce the tendency of individual drinkers to accept risks.

"Alcohol consumers accepted more risk when deciding alone but the least risk when deciding as a group. We think that this is because drinkers in groups monitor one another closely, becoming more cautious when directly asked whether to take a risk," he said.

The study is published in the journal Addiction.

Kolkata: Kolkata will soon have its 'Kolkata Eye' modelled on the 'London Eye', a giant ferris wheel, providing a magnificent view of the metropolis from a height of 120 metre.
The contract was awarded on Wednesday to a UK-based company for the construction of the 'Kolkata Eye' for Rs 300 crore, the sources said.
The 'Kolkata Eye' will be constructed at Millennium Park on the bank of the River Hooghly, Urban Development ministry sources told PTI.
"It will be an icon of the great city of Kolkata and will enrich the ongoing river-front beautification project," Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said.
"This project, the first of its kind in size and magnitude in India, is already underway and is expected to be ready in a year's time," she said in a Facebook post.
The view of the skyline of metropolis from the 'giant wheel', she said, would be a tourist attraction.
It would have 36 air-conditioned capsules which would rotate slowly affording a wonderful view of the skyline.
The London Eye, standing 135 metre tall on the south bank of the River Thames in London was erected in 1999.
