Actor Pawan Kalyan’s political foray on March 14

Actor Pawan Kalyan’s political foray on March 14

HYDERABAD: It's confirmed. Actor Pawan Kalyan will enter politics. On March 14, 2014, he will float his own party and address his fans and Telugu people across the world, explaining his ideology and the reason behind his decision to enter politics. Pawan Kalyan will talk about his philosophy towards life, the future and how he would like them to join him in his endeavour to cleanse the political system.

The venue of the public meeting is not yet known. Even as Pawan Kalyan is planning is political moves, his nephew Ram Charan Tej, son of Pawan's elder brother Chiranjeevi has made it clear that only his father would have his 'full support'. "It is his own journey," Charan said, referring to Pawan Kalyan's political aspirations.

Some close friends and trusted lieutenants of Pawan Kalyan are now engaged in drawing up a tour schedule for him as he would want to draw support for his party and its nominees in the ensuing elections to the Lok Sabha and the Assembly. Representatives of political parties invited him into their fold, but Pawan Kalyan is firm on going it alone.

The actor's brothers Chiranjeevi and Nagendra Babu do not want their younger brother to jump into politics, especially because Chiranjeevi is now with the Congress, but Pawan Kalyan has conveyed in no uncertain terms that he is firm about the path that he has chosen.

Pawan Kalyan has a large number of admirers in the film fraternity itself and a close association with some people in particular. These include well-known director Trivikram Srinivas who hails from Bhimavaram and and Vijayawada-born serial entrepreneur Prasad V Potluri, chairman and managing director of PVP Ventures Limited who are said to be closing working with him as he makes his entry as a 'solo hero' on to the political firmament.

News of Pawan Kalyan intending to float a party has been doing the rounds for sometime now, but not many took his reported intentions and with good reason. The first thing that comes to everybody's mind is the Common Man Protection Force (CMPF) that he announced grandly in October 2007. In a dramatic fashion, he signed a cheque for Rs 1 crore as corpus fund for the organisation to help people in distress.

At that time Pawan Kalyan had wryly commented: "It is not necessary to be in politics to serve the people." The actor got bad press then itself when a politician's daughter-in-law approached him for help against the injustice that she was suffering. She complained that she could not even meet Pawan Kalyan, though she spent hours in front of his residence. The actor has now quite clearly realized that politics need not be a no-go area. During the 2009 elections itself, Pawan Kalyan forayed on to the political arena by heading "Yuva Rajyam", the youth wing of his brother Chiranjeevi's " Praja Rajyam Party". The elections over and PRP not doing that well and eventually merging with the Congress, a hurt Pawan Kalyan retreated into a cocoon and concentrated only on his movie career.

Pawan Kalyan has demonstrated his skill as real-life drama when there was a problem in Chiranjeevi's family. In cinematic style, he went to Jubilee Hills police station and surrendered his licenced revolver declaring that no one could say he was not a dangerous man. But in 2007, Pawan Kalyan showed how he could use his tongue to retort, getting back at actor Mohan Babu at the Platinum jubilee celebrations of the Telugu film industry in Hyderabad.
